The Lord Shall Provide!

My Rich Scottish Heritage.

Welcome!

I support RavenNuke(tm) with themes and I also offer other good resources for designers.  I make every attempt at keeping the links current and pointing to the best websites where you can hone your skills.

This website is running on RavenNuke_v2_5 the most current release.

API's (Application Programming Interface) :  There is no reason for a designer not to include API's within their software.  Here's an example I took from "How Stuff Works."  "An API is a software-to-software interface, not a user interface. With APIs, applications talk to each other without any user knowledge or intervention. When you buy movie tickets online and enter your credit card information, the movie ticket Web site uses an API to send your credit card information to a remote application that verifies whether your information is correct. Once payment is confirmed, the remote application sends a response back to the movie ticket Web site saying it's OK to issue the tickets."  Another good resource is buried within Google.

PMCCT Themes

PMCCT themes that are displayed for download here are not W3C compliant to XHTML1.0 or CSS2.1.  But they will be once I release PMCCT V4 which will be available to the public when it is completed.  I know that is a screwy way to set a release date, but, I have my plate full of other projects now.  Version4 will be an attempt at seamless integration with RavenNuke(tm). The themes below work fine on all major browsers, but please let me know if you have problems, via my forums.

Look for more themes to be released very soon, under this category.

I held off  working on PMCCT until after RavenNuke 2.5 was released.  Now I can continue my work.

Every now and then I get something thrown at me that makes no sense at all.  The most recent one is that you can change the DOCTYPE of a theme.  That is the biggest lump of bull shit I've ever heard.  A theme is dependent on the DOCTYPE  that is established in the CMS.  If you validate a theme that is the default theme of RavenNuke(tm) and since the doctype of RN is set for XHTML 1.0 Transitional then the theme had best comply to that standard or else the validator will attempt to fall back to XHTML 1.0 Transitional and you will get a lot of errors.  If you code your theme for HTML 4.0 Transitional, it isn't going to validate against that.  It is going to look for a DOCTYPE of XHTML 1.0 Transitional and it will find errors.

So in essence, you cannot place a doctype inside of a theme and I don't give a rotten damn if you're a expert or not.

I am always trying to make my web sites better.  I keep them compliant and make an attempt at meeting W3C standards and Google standards.  If you haven't noticed, Google is the preeminent giant of the Internet, and pleasing that monster of a search engine is complicated to say the least.  But where do you start?  A good place, well maybe the best place is  http://www.google.com/webmasters/ .  While there, you can run all of the tools to your hearts content.  Check 'em out and see if you can please the monster.

I know you've done all of this work to make your theme compliant. But are there errors that W3C doesn't show you? Your website probably has errors that affect code within your theme that you may need to fix.  I know because I had a bunch of errors and warnings. But I have gotten it down to 3 warnings and 3 errors.  Not bad but I want to get it down to zero. I expect these figures to go up as I am coding in new stuff to the site.

For a website that is XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS 2.0 compliant with no errors or warnings, go to my design website which is not built on top of a CMS but is one that I hard coded http://papamikedesigns.com

If you think that your website or theme is compliant? Run it through Online Web Check and see what happens.

Good Stuff To Know

Good Stuff

DNS Black Listed Check

Also known as DNSBL''s or DNS Blacklists, are spam blocking lists that allow a website administrator to block messages from specific systems that have a history of sending spam. As their name implies, the lists are based on the Internet''s Domain Name System, which converts complicated, numerical IP address such as 140.239.191.10 into domain names like example.net, making the lists much easier to read, use, and search. If the maintainer of a DNS Blacklist has in the past received spam of any kind from a specific domain name, that server would be ''blacklisted'' and all messages sent from it would be either flagged or rejected from all sites that use that specific list.

Today many servers check to see if the senders mail is blacklisted, some people don''t know but their server may be or is listed. This causes errors if you send email from a server and the server is blacklisted, now it''s easy to look at most popular DNS black list services to see if any of your sites are listed . Is your sites URL blacklisted, are you considered a spam bot? Click the link above to find out.

Project Honey Pot
Anytime a person applies for membership here my software runs a check to see if their IP is blacklisted or if it is a registered spammer. Follow the link above and become a Project Honey Pot member. Save yourself some headaches and grief by checking those IPs. It takes a little longer (about 2 minutes) but it is definately worth it.

Search Engine Optimization

Optimize Your HTML
Using this helpful tool will remove all the extra white spacing in your HTML website. This will optimize your sites for faster load speed.

A Spiders Eye View
What does a search engine see when it spiders your website? Follow this link to find out, it will help you improve your website.

Bot Defense
Bot defense gives your website protection against abuse by known IP offenders. When someone enters your website using a known IP number which has a history of posting spam it will be blocked and a notification will be emailed to you. It also detects proxies, I find this to be a very useful tool and use it on my site here.
